Product Defects Monitor

Before you order, see what got products like yours pulled from the European market or recalled in France.

Type one or more product names, separated by commas: the tool searches 13,398 EU Safety Gate alerts (since 6 January 2023) and 2,930 product recalls published in France (since 4 January 2022), then shows the hazards, defects and standards that keep coming back on similar products.

Type a product to see the most common quality and safety problems found on equivalent products.

Sources: Safety Gate, the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products (European Commission), and RappelConso (DGCCRF, Licence Ouverte 2.0). Motor vehicles excluded. Product matching (lexicon and keywords) and defect grouping: LPI Quality. A product can appear in both sources. These figures reflect enforcement activity, not a defect rate.

How to read these results

The tool looks for your product in two official sources: Safety Gate, where the authorities of European countries report dangerous products found on the market, and RappelConso, the French government website where product recalls are published. Safety Gate is written in English and RappelConso in French: a lexicon of about 70 product families links everyday names, in English, French and Chinese, to the terms each source uses. A word outside the lexicon is searched as typed.

Defects are grouped by keywords found in the official description of the problem: small parts, phthalates, insulation, overheating… One alert can show several defects. The figures reflect enforcement activity, not a defect rate: a best-selling or closely watched product shows up more often than a rare one.

What keeps coming back on products like yours is what to check first at your supplier: lab tests against the standards quoted, then a pre-shipment inspection on an AQL sample.
